Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport (UPG) is located on the border of Makassar city and Maros a suburb in South Sulawesi, approximately 15 minutes (17km) from Makassar city via Toll way or 25 minutes (23 km) via regular road. The airport was named after Sultan Hasanuddin, a Sultan of Gowa, who fought against Dutch East India Company in 1660s. Transport to and from Makassar to the airport
To the airport, a meterd taxi is about Rp 80,000. Or, from central Makassar to the airport, catch a pete-pete from Makassar Mall to Maros (Rp8500) and tell the driver to let you out at the airport.
